God's Work. Our Hands.

Scholars in Residence

The Scholars in Residence (SiR) program is designed to nurture members and visitors in their faith through the inspiration and instruction of recognized guest scholars, musicians and artists. These guests would share his or her expertise through forums, workshops and worship experiences.

You are invited to participate in this exciting ministry at St. Armands Key Lutheran Church, designed to offer our congregation and community outstanding presentations on significant issues / topics related to our faith. During the months of January, February and March, we have the privilege of hosting well-known, highly respected Church Leaders, each of whom has used his talents to contribute mightily to the Church of Jesus Christ.

The SiR program selects Lutheran scholars – mainly retired professors and church leaders – to spend two to three weeks in the congregation during the winter tourist season (January - March). The scholars provide inspiration and instruction by sharing their faith and knowledge in areas of their expertise. SAKLC provides their transportation and living accommodations so they can enjoy a relaxing time on Florida’s beautiful sun coast.

Since 2002, over 50 scholars have presented a wide range of topics on the Bible, church history, Christian doctrine, church tradition, church music, world religions, and the like. All lectures and presentations take place at SAKLC, located on St. Armands Key (one block from St. Armands Circle).

Everyone is invited and welcomed.  Morning sessions begin at 9:30 AM with fellowship and refreshments.  See the Events and Announcements page for the current month's details.
